Created in 1994 as the result of AT&T Corporation's purchase of McCaw Cellular Communications, AT&T Wireless began trading as a tracking stock on the New York Stock Exchange in April 2000. In July 2001, AT&T Wireless split from AT&T Corp. to become an independent company.

In July 2001, AT&T Wireless became the first company to introduce the next generation of wireless services in the U.S. with the launch of GSM™/GPRS in Seattle, Washington. Through roaming agreements and affiliates, GSM/GPRS service is now available to more than 250 million people in the United States and available in more than 130 countries for voice calling and some 45 countries for data services. Additionally, in November 2003, AT&T Wireless took the lead in wireless data by introducing its national EDGE service, the fastest national wireless data service in the United States.

Revenues: Over the past four quarters, AT&T Wireless had revenues of nearly $16.6 billion.

Customers: AT&T Wireless currently serves 21.980 million consolidated subscribers (as of 12/31/03).

Sales: Currently, AT&T Wireless products and services are available at more than 20,000 retail outlets across the country (as of 12/31/03). Their products and services are also online, and at retail outlets throughout the country.

Service Area: AT&T Wireless and its affiliates hold licenses from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to serve 99 percent of the U.S. population. In conjunction with their affiliates and roaming partners, wireless voice services are currently available in more than 7,700 cities across the United States and Canada. Internationally, customers on their WorldConnect™ service, enjoy voice coverage to more than 130 countries, and data service in some 45 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Employees: AT&T Wireless employs approximately 30,000 people in some 500 locations across the U.S.

Business Divisions: AT&T Wireless is divided into three major business divisions: Mobility, International and Mobile Multimedia Services (MMS):

Mobility: AT&T Wireless operates one of the largest wireless networks in the United States, offering digital voice services in each of the top 50 markets and wireless data services in over 6,500 cities and towns across the country.

International: Today's global customers expect their wireless communications to work across the globe in the same way that they do across the road. That's why AT&T Wireless' International Division is creating global solutions to meet our customers' needs wherever they go. Our goal is nothing less than to offer the best international service of any U.S. wireless company. The International Division has three primary objectives:

The Jewel of North America: They want to own and control networks where their customers live, work, travel and play. For the majority, this means North America. Control of the networks means a more seamless and satisfying wireless experience for their customers. They now have networks or licenses in more North American countries than any U.S. wireless company:

• Bermuda
• Canada (through Rogers AT&T Wireless)
• Puerto Rico
• St. Lucia
• U.S. Virgin Islands
• St. Vincent and the Grenadines

The following are newly-acquired licenses where they are under construction. Their goal is to extend the North American GSM/GPRS network to all of these countries:

• Antigua and Barbuda
• Barbados
• Curacao
• Dominica
• Grenada

Global Services: They want to serve global travelers and multi-national enterprises wherever they are in the world. You can, for example, use an AT&T Wireless phone in more countries than any single handset from any other U.S. carrier. Global services are provided through alliances with other leading carriers around the world.

• Voice roaming to over 130 countries. Use your AT&T Wireless phone to make calls on six continents.
• GPRS data roaming in 45 countries for laptops, PDAs, Blackberries and other data devices.
• The ability to dial directly from your wireless phone in the U.S. to over 220 countries.
• Worldview global account services. Manage enterprise-wide wireless purchasing across seven countries.

Joint Venture Management AT&T Wireless owns minority interests in wireless carriers in a number of countries including Canada, India, Europe and Taiwan. These stock holdings are managed for highest financial returns.
