in Wireless Providers is Verizon Wireless, which is the No. 1 U.S.
wireless service provider, as on Jan 28
2004, its customer
base grew by about 4 percent in the fourth quarter, beating some
Wall Street estimates and dwarfing the growth rate of its nearest
rivals. Moreover, the venture of Verizon Communications and
Britain's Vodafone Group Plc added roughly 1.5
million customers, bringing its total to about 37.5 million. It
added more than 10 times as many subscribers as AT&T Wireless
and more than twice as many as Cingular Wireless in the
quarter.
